Busy Day
"Buster" was back for some tomatoes and a short visit this AM. Enjoyed a round of golf at Beardance...front nine MUCH more than the back nine. Enjoyed watching the Broncos' victory and finished the demo for our hardwoods going in tomorrow.

While I was running on the treadmill this morning, the sunlight shining on one of the deck pillars caught my eye. I just really liked the way it looked.

Relaxing Evening
We had a busy day of cleaning around the Jensen household. Between the two of us: all of the floors were done, baseboards cleaned, dusting done, front of the kitchen cabinets cleaned, fridge cleaned, dishes and counter tops done, and laundry done. So it was an evening for resting under my favorite quilt!










It also took almost the entire evening to get my timelapse uploaded from yesterday. I did put the video in yesterday's post as well, but I wanted to add it here as well.

I decided to tackle the pantry today...prior to my FABULOUS Kakoa Body Mask/Massage with Mischa!

I didn't find any sort of "science experiment" items and it looks so much better! Now what to tackle tomorrow?

First Day in the Books

Well, the first day of 2013 has come and gone. I woke up to the sound of running...my nephews up and ready to tackle the new day!

I have to say that the first day of the New Year has been fairly productive. After saying goodbye to the family, they stayed over from our New Year's Eve celebration, I decided to tackle my craft room. (I had to move a LARGE number of items out of the way for Jack's pack-n-play to fit in there last night.) I began pulling things out and managed to fill a large trash bag. But now I'm left with how to organize everything. The craft room is where today's pics come from. They are the "before" of what I hope to be some AMAZING "after" photos...stay tuned!!

After going through several file cabinets, I came across a number of teaching resources that I had created years ago when I was in the classroom. I moved on to recreating them digitally for The Teacher's Corner. And now it's time for some TV and Norteno Margaritas!

Tile is Done!

Well, we have officially put our first tiling job in the books! We are VERY happy with how it all turned out. Chad did a great job of installing the new under-cabinet lighting.

New Arrival

Ate our first meal at the new table tonight. When we first moved in almost eight years ago, we needed a table...managed to pick up an inexpensive one at Walmart. Well, we finally kicked it to the curb today to make room for the new one. The nice thing is we can add a leaf and two chairs - then it seats six.

Workout

One year ago today I posted a photo of my dusty elliptical. There were two reasons for the dust: our basement was getting finished and it hadn't been used. This photo is of our home gym in the basement...we love it!

Well, after one year, I am proud to announce I have lost 22 pounds! It was an up and down year...some months being better than others. I did have to take a break in July and August due to some minor foot surgery.

One of the things that really helped me stay focused and have an accurate assessment of my workouts and calorie consumption was my Body Bug. This is what the competitors on the Biggest Loser use...and I love it! I have also adjusted my thinking about food - I really evaluate if the calories are worth it or not. I still want to loose a little more weight, but it feels great to be on the right track to good health.

The Final Day

WOW! I can't believe another year...another decade has come and passed. This "end of the year" reflection has been a little different for me, thanks in part to this blog. I've had the opportunity to look back on the photos I have taken and remember events that I had completely forgotten about - and probably wouldn't have remembered without the photo and blog post. They were the smaller events, the thoughts I had on a certain day, or the something special that caught my eye. I will admit I didn't get a photo everyday, but I am proud of what I did accomplish - 240 posts/photos. (Now that competetive side in me will having something to shoot for in 2010.)

Today's photo - my front door handle. As I began to think about what I wanted to make for my last photo I had a number of ideas, but all of a sudden this popped into my head.

My front door has been the beginning to a number of memories for 2009. It's the first thing that greets my family and friends as they come over for a holiday, family dinner, or a well deserved drink. It's also the last thing I lock up when I leave, seeing me off on a number of adventures around the world, to work, or even just down the street.

So today, I close the door on 2009 with fond memories and open it to 2010 with great excitement. And I look forward to another year of "everyday in a photo."

Trick-or-Treat!

Well, I had a great night...I LOVED seeing all the kids in their costumes. I have to say that of all the faces I could see tonight, I recognized 95% of them from school. It was fun waiting for the kids to recognize me. I heard a number of "Ohh...Mrs. Jensen!" or "Mom...that's my computer teacher!" as they ran toward the curb. I also had a great surprise of seeing a former student. I didn't even recognize her...she had changed so much from 4th to 9th grade.

Several weeks ago I found a cute wig with curlers, so I had to go with a different costume than my usual witch/scientist. I had a robe, Broncos shirt, sweat pants, and fuzzy slippers...there were a few "What are you for Halloween?" questions at the front door. If I would have been thinking sooner, I would have said, "I'm a teacher after three snow days...we just stay in our PJs!"

After nearly four months, I finally rediscovered the floor of my dining room.  When we began our basement finishing project we decided to forgo a storage unit and just move our things into other rooms of the house.  This weekend we began moving items back into the basement.  As I was sorting and cleaning, Fiji managed to find one of my empty boxes.

Today's picture is of the new pile of "stuff" that has gathered on our living room floor. I think I've mentioned this in a previous post, but we are currently having our basement finished. (It should be done in a matter of weeks - the electricians began installing lights, switches and plugs today!) During this process I have realized just how much stuff we would toss in the basement...just because. On top of these items, we also have a LARGE number of boxes and items that are waiting to be taken down to the basement and installed.

Anyway, Chad worked his butt off today around the house and the pile was from all his hard work. He managed to repaint our front door - inside and out. (We replaced the handle over a year ago, but had never patched the unpainted spot that was left from the old handle.) He also sanded and painted portions of the window sill outside where the paint was peeling. He also took down our address sign, pulled off the numbers and repainted that. He painted our wine closet in the basement - we wanted it a different color than the rest of the walls. And while he was doing all of that, he even did some laundry. I am married to an amazing man!!
