Christmas Eve
Just a warning...picture overload for today's post. Just remember, it is Christmas Eve after all!!
The sun was back out today...beautiful day!
Renee made her yummy pecan rolls for tomorrow morning.
Was very excited that I could bet a run in...had some extra calories to burn!
During church tonight, Matthew wrote the sweetest note for Santa. It was set out with the cookies. My mom got an early start teaching him some of the editing marks.

Swim & Snow
Made it to the Rec Center this morning for some laps. (Trying to get some exercise in that doesn't impact my knee as much.) I was surprised to discover that my punches can only be used at the old location and not the new center.
It was beautiful outside with the new snow, sun and blue sky.

Finally Friday
We've had an amazing Teacher Appreciation Week. Everyday we were surprised. The week came to a close with Santiago's breakfast burritos, the Fun Run and Spring Carnival. With so many other things going on this week, I was unable to commit to the carnival tonight.
Kara and I "ran" in the Fun Run. I did realize that I am no longer a spring chicken. :( I do want it noted that my 6 tally marks compared to her 12 (13 a little later) were based on my running with 1 grade level and not the 2 that she was involved with!!

One year ago today I posted a photo of my dusty elliptical. There were two reasons for the dust: our basement was getting finished and it hadn't been used. This photo is of our home gym in the basement...we love it!
Well, after one year, I am proud to announce I have lost 22 pounds! It was an up and down year...some months being better than others. I did have to take a break in July and August due to some minor foot surgery.
One of the things that really helped me stay focused and have an accurate assessment of my workouts and calorie consumption was my Body Bug. This is what the competitors on the Biggest Loser use...and I love it! I have also adjusted my thinking about food - I really evaluate if the calories are worth it or not. I still want to loose a little more weight, but it feels great to be on the right track to good health.

Does a 5K count when you run it on your treadmill? We weren't able to make it to an outdoor 5K, so I decided to do the next best thing...start my own!
For those of you who know me, my theory regarding running outdoors is that something should be chasing you! I have never enjoyed running, even as a child. I have grown to tolerate it, but I have to stick to my treadmill because my knees can't handle the pavement.
I was impressed with my time - this was the longest distance I had gone (in a walk/run).

Here is my Mii getting ready to walk across the tightrope in a balance game of Wii Fit. It took me four or five tries to get to the other side.
Well, I'm not sure if I should be in total depression or not. I tried out the Wii Fit for the first time today. When you first begin you have to do balance testing, weighing, BMIing, etc. and then you get your Wii Fit age...mine was 8 years HIGHER than my actual age. YIKES! I'm not sure how accurate this is. My husband, Chad, said that his was higher at first and after redoing his balance testing, he was back down at his actual age. When I get on next time I'll have to give it another try.
Anyway, I began my workout on the Wii - went for just over an hour. I managed to try each of the areas: yoga, strength, aerobic, and balance...I performed the worst in the area of balance. Maybe that's why I'm so accident prone! ;o) As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I'm trying to get back in the habit of working out and I think the Wii Fit will be a fun addition to my weekly routine. I'll keep you posted!

As for my elliptical, I plan to frequent it more often....have to get in shape for my sister's wedding this spring. About a year ago I had gotten into a great routine - up in the morning and working out before school. I felt great! I'm not sure what happened, but I want to get back in a healthy routine.
