Veggies...Finally!
I finally got something from my Earthboxes in the backyard. I'm ready to make some zucchini bread, jalapeno poppers and spicy margaritas! As for the tomatoes...not sure yet. They might be the only ones I get if they don't start looking better.
Enjoyed a mix of White Rascal & Hard Cider this afternoon...love summer cocktails and taking a break from the usual!

Oh Hail!!
We've been lucky ALL summer and we've missed the hail portion of all the storms...not tonight. I was able to move around the flower pots, but the veggies on the back fence didn't fair so well. The zucchini was looking the best out of everything. Hopefully it will bounce back quickly!

Yard Work
Managed to finally get some things done in the yard...summer is officially on its' way now that the veggies are in the Earthboxes! I still have to find some zucchini and an artichoke, along with some shade plants for my pots.

Spring Buds
We made it out to the backyard before golf and got the grasses & plants trimmed. Went back out this evening and found several of the bushes budding out. Just today the aspen tree managed to pop out some new leaves. The photo is of the sumac. (Liked this one off my Canon better than my Instagram pic.)

New Beginnings
Well, here we are again...New Year's Day. A day we all eat healthy, workout, clean the house, make some resolutions, get a couple new subscriptions, etc. Reflecting, I managed to get a whole SIX posts here last year! The sad thing is there have been a number of times that I search through the blog looking for certain events/photos. I've come to realize that I really enjoy looking back at previous posts. So...I resolve to more than 6 posts in 2014!
I couldn't decide between two photos, so I decided to post them both. This was the sunrise at my parent's farm in Burlington, Colorado the morning of Christmas Eve 2013.
The second photo was taken at least 2-3 years ago...signs of new life in the spring after a cold winter.

Summer Leftovers
I had felt a little bad about not getting the Earthboxes out of the backyard prior to the winter snow...but today my laziness was rewarded. A leftover tomato became the treat for the squirrel who frequents our backyard.

One Month Later
Well, the Anaheim Chili plants are looking pretty darn good after just one month. They had been reduced to stems and just a few leaves after the hail storm last month.

One Hail of a Storm!
Well, not did we get one storm tonight, but two...and they knocked the crap out of the house, roof, flowers, and garden.

Jalapeño Jam
Looking forward to eating the jalapeño jam that we made this weekend. 16 cups of jalapeños...some were from my garden (I had froze them whole and just thawed them out) and others were from the store. We did notice that the peppers from my garden were much hotter!
We also tried out another recipe from Pinterest with he leftover jalapeños...Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese Sandwich. They weren't too bad, but they did need hotter peppers.
