Lakeside
You can always always trust a beer tastes better when you are drinking next to a mountain lake while camping

The Ridge
We made our way back to The Ridge via an invitation from some good friends. I was excited to head back and anxious to see the condition of the course. I have to say that it didn't blow me away. Felt pretty good about our choice to move to Bear Dance. One of the best parts of the day was getting to see my old friend Dick who is a starter.

First Day Out
Well, we didn't make it a full 18, but we got the front 9 in at Bear Dance today. I wimped out with the wind...made it too cold. Figured since we would be out there Saturday and Sunday, no reason to suffer. Had fun, most holes - the sun just needed to stay out. Looking forward to a great summer!

Follow up to yesterday's post - my first timelapse is now complete!! It won't be winning any awards, but it was fun! I think I bumped the camera during my final set-up and unfortunately got some of the window frame in the shot. Now I just need a good thunderstorm! So...having some difficulty uploading right now. Will keep working on it...

Old Faithful

This was my first trip to Yellowstone. I traveled there with all of my DEN friends during the 2012 Summer Institute at Bozeman, Montana.

Caterpillars

I was out on the trails behind the school taking photos for the 5th grader's tech project and came across this. I've seen them in the past and finally decided to look them up...they are Tent Caterpillars.

The Furniture is Out!

Nothing says summer like getting the outdoor furniture set up. Now I keep my fingers crossed for not late snow storms!!

Nest

We have a nest in progress! I have to admit that I was very concerned...I haven't seen very many blue birds in the neighborhood or around the school. I'm once again participating in the Colorado Blue Bird Project and I'll be anxious to see the results for this year. Looking forward to another nesting season!!

And HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

Outdoor Education - Final Day

During our time at High Trails, I have been working with the students in the Trapper group. During our time in the forest, students had the opportunity to build their own lean-to structures. I came across a number of very cool fallen logs. I've enjoyed my time with the kids, but I'm anxious to get back home. I will say that being out in the mountains makes me anxious to go camping this summer.

Outdoor Education - Day 2

I was very excited to wake up to beautiful, clear skies this morning! We were up early for our morning hike. This was the view looking east towards Pikes Peak.

Outdoor Education

Today was the first of three days at High Trails just outside of Florrisant, Colorado. This is a camp for the 6th graders - I went as a chaperone. We had great weather for our first day. This is a photo of an aspen tree...I loved the texture.

Spring Golf...Again

We were lucky enough to make it out the Ridge again for some golf. The wind started off very calm, but ended up making an appearance. At least it was sunny and warm...80 degrees!! With all of these wind days I won't know how to play in nice weather.

Spring Golf

Installing tile and playing golf were on my "to do" list for spring break. The damn wind has been getting in our way for golfing. We decided to play at The Ridge today...the weather forecast was calling for winds to pick up around noon - not so much! We still managed to have fun...on most holes. :o)

Great Morning

The first day of March found me talking a morning walk on the golf course. It was great to see some familiar territory...it was so quiet and peaceful. I caught the sunrise over the Rock.

A Happier Place

After one of the toughest days I've ever had, I was able to get away to a happier place for a little while. The weather was nice today and I was able to get out and walk on my favorite trail behind the school. I ran into a few patches of mud and ice, but it was a much needed time out and in the sun. My heart is still so full of sadness...I miss my Bailey.

Front Range

Today we were up by Daniels Park taking some photos of my sister and her family. It was a little smoggy, but a great view.

Me & My Shadow

I actually took this photo Saturday at the volleyball games, but I liked it and had to share it. My nephew needed to work off his hot dog from lunch. He had a great time running around and playing in the leaves.

01.19.09

Once again, Bailey and I were out on a walk.  The weather was nice again today - did have a little more wind.  With the warm weather, the snow piles from the last few weeks are melting.  As we passed through one of the many puddles along the cart path, Bailey's footprints caught my eye.  He hasn't been groomed recently, so his longer hair left marks as well.  It made for an unusual footprint.  I began to wonder...as other people walked by these prints, what would they think passed this way?

01.18.09

Just a piece of trivia for everyone, but Colorado's state grass is the Blue Gramma Grass.  It's a fun shaped grass - it always reminds me of eyebrows.  I have seen a number of Blue Gramma patches around Castle Rock...even in the grassy area next to Walgreens!

Today while I was out walking our cocker spaniel, Bailey, I came across several great patches of the grass.  This particular patch caught my eye because it somewhat "glowing" in the sunlight.  I actually got down lower to take the photo.  (The photo shows just one small clump of the grass.)  Had I captured all of the individual grasses glowing, I would have gotten too much of the houses just beyond the grass.  I thought the blue sky won hands down compared to the houses.
