Final Day
Today was not only the last day of our Holiday Spirit Week, but it was also the last day before Winter Break...YEA!! Today was pajama day...appropriate for school pajama day! ;)

Had a very busy day so it went fast. Forgot to ask the last classes of the day to shut down our laptop carts, so I found myself shutting down 94 computers...not fun in many ways! Need to bathe in hand sanitizer afterwards.

Crazy Week
Today I finished up a busy week of visiting classes for the Hour of Code. Earlier in the week our district's Superintendent paid our school an unscheduled visit. She spent some time in the 5th grade classroom that I was teaching.

Will wrap up the crazy week tomorrow night with our staff holiday party. Go my new dress and I'm ready!

Code & Cookies
Had a GREAT day working with students today for the Hour of Code. Most of my time was spent with the Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students...and the loved it!! I saw some promising computer programmers today!

This evening several of us gals from work got together for the First Annual CSE Cookie Exchange. LOTS of yummy treats! Thanks to my favorite LM for hosting!

On the Hunt
Well, I am looking for "housing" for 270 Google Chromebooks. Made my way to IKEA thinking that I would hit the jackpot...not so much. Also made my way to a few office stores and Super Target...still nothing great. Will have to go back to the drawing board. (I did manage to find some Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Oreos at the Super Target though...YUMMY!!)

Hi-Tech & No-Tech
Today is one of those days that I remember to appreciate both ends of the spectrum. I received my final shipment of Google Chromebooks...270 now waiting for set up. At the end of the day I managed to capture a beautiful sunset...thanks to Mother Nature. Anything tech and anything natural...two of my favorite things!!!

Virtual DENSI2014
This morning I was able to join in on the Livestream from the DENSI2014 in Nashville. Missing my DEN Family!!

FedEx was supposed to deliver my first batch of Google Chromebooks yesterday, but they had some type of "miscommunication". The machines did arrive today! The next 150 should be here Friday!

A Little Fun...A Little Work
Well, I realized that after 18 holes of golf at Red Hawk, I didn't get any photos! We played in the league's member-guest tournament. Unfortunately, they didn't pay out for 2nd low gross.

This evening I got to work on my two tech presentations for Thursday. Looking forward to seeing some of my tech friends and working with the teachers!

Laptops
Christmas in June
I received a phone call this morning from the UPS driver letting me know he was ready to deliver our 49 laptops at the school. Literally...he was at the school...good thing I only live a few minutes away.

I got the computer boxes unloaded from the large shipping box and into the lab. Even managed to get a few imaged while I was there.

One of the two desktop pallets.
After making a couple of trips to the dumpster, I was headed back home when the FedEx guy showed up...delivering our 19 desktops. It was perfect timing!!

Now to wait for the 270 Chromebooks and find the time to get back to school to get today's delivery imaged.

InnEdCo 2014
I was able to fit one day of the state tech conference up at Cooper Mountain into my crazy week. I took part in the "Google for Education Academy" Pre-Conferencee and learned some very FUN new Google ideas and skills!!

Computers
This is just a fifth of the lab. Imaging is going...we'll stick with that!!

Even after this week I will still have about 150 iPads, 70 new computers and 270 Chromebooks.

CMAS
Well, we have finished our first day of the new state assessment for social studies and science. We used all but about four computers between the 4th & 5th grade. Overall, everything went great - the Internet stayed up (knock on wood) and we only had a few login errors. Hopefully day 2 will be even better!

Not so Green, or Practical
I recently ordered two Vivitar Pro Action Camcorders from WalMart. The cameras didn't come with memory cards, so I had to order them separately. Since the cameras were for school and I was using the PCard, the order ultimately ended up being in four different boxes, with the cameras arriving first. Well today the memory cards arrived, each in their own box. As you can see from the photo, someone in WalMart's packaging department needs a little lesson. And remember...this was just for ONE of the cards! It was probably one of the most ridiculous things I have ever seen!!

iPad Wall
Chad helped me come up with this fun door decoration for our Fall Festival at school. The kids loved it...especially the "Booger" app for Bloger.

New Laptop!
Well, a couple of weeks ago my desk top started smelling hot so we decided it was time to invest in a new computer. I'm going with a laptop versus another desk top. It is exciting to have a new computer...just don't look forward to transferring all my files and reinstalling various apps.

iPads

Well, I began working on getting our school iPads ready to share with the staff and students later this month. The big problem I'm having was getting them to all look the same for the students...Apple never seems to make anything easy.

Morning of Learning

This morning was great! Two other teachers and I planned and executed a great morning of professional learning for other technology folks in our district. We ended up with about 60 folks at the conference and had 10 different sessions for them to choose from. This photo is of the presentation done by one of my Discover Educator Network (DEN) friends, who is also a DEN Guru. She joined us virtually from Pennsylvania!

The crazy thing...the three of us never actually met in person to organize the ETIL Regional Conference. We met virtually via Skype and utilized Google Docs and email. A great use of technology resources to pull off a great technology conference.
