Wren

As I've previously posted, a house wren tried to set-up house in the bluebird box.  After several days of hard work, he/she disappeared.  I'm not sure if this is the same one, but it should up for just another day.

Bird Watching

When she's not taking a nap, you can find Fiji watching the birds that come up to the deck to eat their sunflower seeds.  She's pretty tough...behind a window.

Watering

I grabbed a glass of wine and decided to sit out back.  As I was enjoying the last hours of sunshine, the sprinklers came on.

Salsa Anyone?

My mom gave me a couple different types of tomatoes to plant earlier this Spring.  One is finally ripe and ready to make into salsa!!

Cat Nap

Fiji was taking her nap in the usual chair - by the front window in my office.  I'm sure it was because she had such a hard day working around the house.

I told you there were a lot of them!  This one is snacking on a petunia in one of the hanging planters.

A Get Together

As I was getting ready this morning I looked out the bedroom window and saw this group of house finches sitting together in the neighbor's tree.

Surprisingly, the only thing these guys ate were my cabbage and some grass.

Lacy Self Heal

I have really enjoyed these flowers this summer...and so have the hummingbirds.  Some of them started off a little slow this spring, but the group of them has filled in nicely.

Adolescent

I believe this is a young Evening Grossbeak.  They get much prettier.  :o)

The hummingbirds enjoy sitting on the wire of the tree posts and tomato cages.

I believe this one is a Calliope.

Rufous-sided Towhee

A number of towhees stayed around the area all summer.  They come out in the evening to sing their song...I love to listen to them.

Hosta Blossoms

I have two hostas under the deck stairs.  Last fall and winter during the basement finishing I was a little worried about them.  It always seemed that boards and materials were getting set on top of them.  They both have looked great this summer!

Lavendar

Another one of our new plants.  We had two plants - one didn't look as healthy as the other, almost pulled it out.  As the summer is going along it's looking better.

False Sunflowers

We've been enjoying all of our new landscaping this summer.  We had it put in late last October, just before fall, so this was the first time we got see everything in full bloom...more to come over the next several days.
